November 16th

I'm sad to let you all know that we only have 2 classes left. I'm surprised at how fast our 10 classes have gone. I feel like we only just got started. So let's make the most of the 2 classes we have left!

This week we continued to work on our lanterns. Since no one has been able to finish one yet we will wrap up all our previous projects and the lanterns next week during our annual

Catch Up Day!

This week's Sketchbook Assignment was to

Draw Something Squishy!

Here are our winners

Team Cheryl Blossom
Squishy Rubber Duck

Team Betty Cooper
The dreaded squishy thing found during locker clean up

Team Jughead Jones
Most spiders are squishy, but please don't squish Lucas the Spider!

Check out Lucas the Spider, he's adorable!

Next Week's Sketchbook Assignment is to:

Draw Your Spirit Animal!

Please draw yourself in animal form! I look forward to seeing what you have come up with!

November 9th

It's nice to have almost everyone back again. Last week half the class was missing because of either the volleyball tournament or the flu. Today we put the projects we are currently aside and all start to work on our lanterns for the

Home Hardware 3rd Annual
A Magical Winter's Night Lantern Walk

The Art Club has been so lucky to have been a part of this wonderful family event for the past two years and would love to submit new lanterns again this year.

Our theme for this year's lanterns will be Canada's 150th Birthday!

There are a limited supply of 2L bottles available for our lanterns, but artists are welcome to bring in there own 2L bottle if they like. Please bring in a straight-sided clear 2L bottle, such as President's choice or Pepsi. There will be 1L bottles available as well.

We will have two classes set aside to create our lanterns in.

Here is a sneak peak of what we will be doing:

Sketchbook Assignment this week was to:

Draw Something You Miss

Here are the winners:

Team Cheryl Blossom
We miss you Mr. G! (Nothing against our new band teacher Mr. B, but Mr. G rocked)

 Team Betty Cooper

Next week's Sketchbook Assignment

November 2

Welcome back, I hope you had a fabulous time Trick or Treating!

Last week's sketchbook assignment was to:

Draw A New Flavour of Popsicle

And here are the winners:

Unicorn Flavoured Popsicle

Spice Cream Popsicle

Blech Flavoured Popsicle
(Flavours include coconut mushroom & booger, black licorice olive & snail, and more)

Our warm-up lesson for this class was to draw an owl in three different ways.

Next week's sketchbook assignment is to:

Draw Something You Miss!

October 26 - Halloween Class

Today was our Halloween class and everything will be Halloween themed.

Firstly spent a few minutes talking about Disney Villains. Who is the Best Disney Villain?

Scar

But if his name is Scar for the scar on his face, what was his name before he got the scar?
We watched a short video of Scar's story.
Then we learned how to draw Scar!

I think they all look amazing since this was a very difficult character to draw.
Oh, Scar's name originally was Taka.

Our sketchbooks this week were also Halloween themed. I asked the artists to:

Draw a character like a zombie!

And here are our winners:

Team Cheryl Blossom
Zombie Patrick Star

 Team Betty Cooper
Zombie Mad Hatter

Team Jughead Jones
Zombie Honey Lemon

Next week's sketchbook assignment is to:

Draw A New Flavour of Popsicle!

Have a Happy and Spooky Halloween!

October 26th

I am so happy to be sharing with you (I’m sorry it’s late) our

Spooky Halloween Window Display

The Art Club artists each made a spider web that was on display in the office for one week, from October 26th until November 2nd. I hope everyone had a chance to stop by and enjoy the hard work. If you did not have a chance to see them, check out our photos and tell us what you think!

I hope you enjoyed our creepy web window!

October 19th

Last week's sketchbook assignment was to:

Draw your sidekick!

You all did a great job, and I love hearing all your wild and funny stories about your drawings.

Here are the winners:

the Jughead Fandom

the Betty Fandom

and the Cheryl Fandom

Congrats to all our winners!

The second project we are working on has been temporarily put on pause. I wanted to put a new style twist onto this project but the technique is not working. I hope to have this figured out by next week. As all of you know I pre-test all projects we do and try to put either my own twist or a nowadays style twist on them to make them more original. It's also nice to know ahead of time what works and what does not.

So in the mean time this is what we are working on:

You guys had asked if we were going to be removing the spider webs when we were done with them, and that got me thinking. As much as it was not my original plan, I think it's a great idea that you guys came up with.

Now our new plan will be on display in the office next Thursday.
Just in time for Halloween!

You guys and your creativity rock!

Here's a sneak peak!

Next week will be our Halloween edition of Art Club!
So this week your sketchbook homework is to draw:

A Character and Zombify it!

See you and all your zombies next week!
